The National Guardsman who was critically injured in a shooting last week in Washington, D.C., is showing signs of recovery, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi. Speaking on “Fox & Friends” Friday, Bondi described U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, 24, as a “miracle,” noting that he is now “able to open both eyes.”

Wolfe remains hospitalized following the shooting on November 26, which occurred just a few blocks from the White House. Tragically, the attack also claimed the life of another National Guardsman, Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, 20.

“Please keep Andy in your prayers,” Bondi urged. “I have visited him and spoken extensively with his family—his mother, Melody, father, Jason, his siblings, and his eight-month-old niece. They have been by his side throughout this ordeal.”

Bondi shared the family’s optimism, recounting how Melody, Wolfe’s mother, has been steadfast in her belief that her son will recover fully. “From the beginning, Melody has been saying, ‘My son is going to live. My son is going to be 100%,’” Bondi said. “The doctors have confirmed he has no blood clots, which is remarkable. He truly is a miracle, and now he’s able to open both his eyes.”

Bondi acknowledged the severity of Wolfe’s injuries, stating, “He’s endured significant trauma and has a challenging path to recovery, but we are hopeful and praying for his complete healing.”

The suspected shooter is Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national. He faces charges of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

Bondi has said the Department of Justice intends to seek the death penalty.

“This was someone that the Biden administration, the monster, let into our country, let him walk into this country with little or no vetting, just like all these Somalis that Obama did who are committing crimes throughout our country,” Bondi said Friday about the suspect. “And under Donald Trump, it’s going to stop. We’re going to find them, we’re going to prosecute them, and they will be deported as well.”
