Amazon is reportedly developing a new set of augmented-reality (AR) glasses, joining the ranks of Meta, Google, Samsung, and Snap, as per a report from The Information. These AR glasses, internally codenamed Jayhawk, are expected to feature a full-color display in one eye, accompanied by built-in microphones, speakers, and a camera.

While Amazon launched its third-generation Echo Frame smart glasses in 2023, these did not boast the advanced features seen in Meta’s Ray-Bans. Although Amazon’s first AR glasses might hit the market in late 2026 or early 2027, The Information suggests an earlier release for a version intended specifically for delivery drivers.

For this initial rollout, Amazon plans to produce 100,000 units targeted at delivery drivers, known internally as “Amelia,” according to The Information. These glasses are anticipated to have a bulkier design than the consumer models, with a display providing drivers with delivery instructions. Previously, Reuters reported that these glasses would offer features such as “turn-by-turn navigation on a small embedded screen.”
