The peculiar realm of Death Stranding continues to grow. As reported by Deadline, Hideo Kojima’s spectral, post-apocalyptic game is branching out with an animated film spinoff. Although details are sparse, the animated feature is expected to resemble other spinoffs like the recent Predator anthology on Hulu, which seems well-suited for Kojima’s distinctive style of oddity.

Aaron Guzikowski, known for creating the HBO series Raised by Wolves, has been signed on as the writer. In a statement, he expressed his admiration for the Death Stranding universe. “I love the world of Death Stranding, it’s so creatively freeing, so beautifully dark and yet hopeful,” he remarked, mentioning his intention to develop “new stories into this fertile, mind-bending universe.”

The announcement coincides with the anticipation for the game’s upcoming sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which is set to release on the PS5 on June 26th. Additionally, a live-action film adaptation is underway from A24, with Michael Sarnoski — the director known for Pig and A Quiet Place — slated to direct.
