Apple has reported a record-breaking quarter for the iPhone, with revenues exceeding $85.3 billion in recent months. This announcement was part of Apple’s Q1 2026 earnings report, which highlighted an impressive total revenue of $143.8 billion, marking a 16 percent increase from the same period last year.

In a press release, Apple CEO Tim Cook expressed enthusiasm over the iPhone’s stellar performance, stating, “The iPhone had its best-ever quarter, fueled by unprecedented demand and achieving all-time records across every geographic segment. Our Services division also set a new revenue record, up 14 percent from last year.”

The surge in iPhone sales comes despite delays in the AI-enhanced Siri rollout. The base model iPhone 17 attracted considerable attention by incorporating features previously reserved for “Pro” models, such as an always-on display and a higher screen refresh rate. Speculations about the underwhelming iPhone Air sales didn’t seem to significantly affect the overall success.

Apple’s services sector, encompassing subscriptions like Apple Music, iCloud, and Apple TV, also saw a robust 14 percent year-over-year growth. However, the company experienced a decline in revenue from Mac computers and wearable devices.

Looking ahead, Apple is set to introduce AI-powered personalization features for Siri. This advancement is part of a collaboration with Google, utilizing a custom version of Google’s Gemini AI model for the upgrade.

Additionally, Apple is making strides in the AI sector by acquiring startup Q.ai for $2 billion, as reported by the Financial Times. Although specific plans for the startup’s technology remain undisclosed, the publication notes that Q.ai’s patents suggest potential applications in headphones or glasses, leveraging “facial skin micro movements” for non-verbal communication.
