OpenAI has unveiled its latest AI model, GPT-5, on Thursday. However, Apple users will have to wait until the release of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26 to experience it with Apple’s ChatGPT integration, as reported by 9to5Mac.

Currently, Apple Intelligence utilizes OpenAI’s GPT-4o model to assist with certain Siri queries and the Visual Intelligence feature, similar to Google Lens. The updated software is anticipated to be available in the “fall,” and could potentially launch next month for all users. However, it’s unclear if GPT-5 will be part of the developer or public beta versions of these upcoming updates. I’ve reached out to Apple for clarification on this matter.

GPT-5 is now accessible to all ChatGPT users, including those on the free tier, following its release on Thursday. OpenAI reports that ChatGPT has gained a user base of approximately 700 million people each week.
