As reported by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is currently experimenting with a new version of Siri through an internal tool named Veritas. Apple has faced challenges in keeping up with advancements in artificial intelligence, and the progression of the new Siri has been postponed several times. The launch of Apple Intelligence didn’t receive much enthusiasm. Veritas is helping Apple to swiftly develop, test, and receive input on new functions for Siri, such as searching through personal data and performing actions within apps, like photo editing.

Gurman notes that Veritas is similar to other chatbot applications like ChatGPT and Gemini. It allows employees to enter requests, engage in ongoing dialogues, and revisit past conversations for deeper exploration of certain topics. However, it seems that there is no current intention to release this tool to the public, which Gurman suggests might be a missed opportunity. Instead, Apple plans to keep Veritas within the company, leaning towards using Google’s Gemini for AI-enhanced search functions.
