Asus is updating its ProArt P16 laptop with RTX 50-series GPUs and a distinctive new screen in its high-end model. Major enhancements include the Nvidia RTX 5090 mobile GPU and a 16-inch 3840 x 2400 OLED touchscreen. This display can reach up to 1,600 nits of brightness in HDR mode and supports a 120Hz refresh rate with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR). The premium version of the P16 will be priced at $3,999.99, available at Best Buy and through Asus when it launches internationally in mid-October, and in the United States by December.

The P16 boasts several impressive specifications, featuring an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU similar to the 2024 model, along with 64GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 4TB of SSD storage via dual 2TB NVMe drives. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Connectivity options on the laptop include a variety of ports: one 40Gbps USB4, one 10Gbps USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, two 10Gbps USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI 2.1, a 3.5mm audio jack, and an SD Express 7.0 card slot.

This substantial laptop serves as a Windows counterpart to the 16-inch MacBook Pro, designed with an all-black exterior. Like its predecessors, the P16 is a creator-centric adaptation of the Intel-based Asus ROG Zephyrus G16. It has a slim profile at 14.9mm (0.59 inches) and a weight of 1.95kg (4.3 pounds), making it relatively light for its dimensions. Nonetheless, it might encounter some thermal throttling under intense creative workload or graphically demanding gaming, similar to the Zephyrus series. This matches with Asus’ tech specs as the P16’s 5090 GPU is rated with a total graphics power (TGP) of up to 120W, although potential peaks can reach 150W according to Nvidia.

Much like the ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16 are renowned for gaming prowess while maintaining portability, the P16 seems promising for creative tasks—at least on paper. To enhance its appeal to creators over the Zephyrus line, Asus equipped the P16 with a brighter, higher-resolution OLED touchscreen in its top-tier configuration. Additionally, it includes Asus’ DialPad, a dial integrated into the trackpad, providing better control for creative software sliders, such as those by Adobe.

For those hesitant about the $4,000 price tag, Asus retains the entry-level 2024 model with an RTX 4060, available for $1,999.99. The new 2025 version offers mid-tier configurations featuring RTX 5070 and 5080 GPU options. The version with the RTX 5070 starts at $2,499.99 and includes the same AMD Ryzen 370HX CPU, 32GB of RAM, a 2TB SSD, and a non-tandem 4K/60Hz OLED screen. While not as grand as Asus’ top configuration, these options still offer strong performance.
