Bigscreen has recently introduced the Beyond 2, a personalized virtual-reality headset boasting a 116-degree field of view that is claimed to be wider than both the Meta Quest 3 and Valve Index. Weighing in at just 107 grams (~3.8 ounces) and starting at $1,019, this wired headset offers optional eye-tracking features for an additional cost.
The Bigscreen Beyond 2 is designed to be compatible with SteamVR base stations and features the same micro-OLED displays found in its predecessor. It presents users with a 5120 x 2560 resolution and a refresh rate of up to 90Hz. Notably, the Beyond 2 boasts upgraded pancake optics that promise “edge-to-edge clarity,” enhanced brightness, and reduced glare. Moreover, the headset allows for individual lens adjustment to match the user’s inter-pupillary distance.
Furthermore, there is also a model called the Beyond 2e available at a starting price of $1,219. The Beyond 2e incorporates eye-tracking technology utilizing incredibly small camera sensors, each about the size of a grain of sand. This feature can be particularly useful for users looking to have their virtual avatar mimic their eye movements in applications like VRChat.
You can still use an iPhone XR or newer to create a 3D scan of your face, allowing Bigscreen to make a custom-fit face cushion. Alternatively, if you don’t have an iPhone, the Bigscreen Beyond 2 now offers a universal-fit Halo mount and cushion.
The Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e are available to order now with black, orange, and clear cover shells. Shipments are expected to arrive in June 2025.
