Blackmagic has unveiled an update to its complimentary camera application, introducing features that are likely to excite streamers and professional broadcasters alike. This new enhancement empowers both Android and iOS users of the Blackmagic Camera app to directly stream to platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, and Vimeo. By doing so, it eliminates the need for third-party applications or additional encoding devices. Users simply need to choose their desired platform and input a secure stream key. During the broadcast, the app’s controls remain accessible, allowing for real-time adjustments to settings like exposure and focus.

In addition to these capabilities, the update incorporates support for SRT, a newer streaming protocol favored by professional broadcasters. This protocol is particularly advantageous for internet connections that may vary in speed and reliability. Furthermore, Blackmagic Camera has expanded to support custom RTMP and SRT servers, offering streamers flexibility beyond the three major platforms now directly accessible through the app.

Among other refinements, the app now provides immediate and detailed alerts if an external drive is disconnected. This feature is crucial for safeguarding data, especially when handling high-resolution and high-frame-rate Apple ProRes files that the iPhone itself cannot internally record. Moreover, users can now select the number of multi-view angles for monitoring remote cameras, enhancing the ability to customize the layout of video feeds on larger screens, such as those of an iPad or a Mac.
