Bungie’s much-anticipated extraction shooter, Marathon, originally slated for a September release, has now been rescheduled for a March 2026 debut. The studio has set its sights on a $39.99 price tag, offering buyers complete access to the game. This includes a lineup of free gameplay updates that will roll out throughout the year, as detailed in a recent blog post.

The delay, announced in June, followed feedback from an alpha test that prompted Bungie to enhance the game further. Since that testing phase in April, the development team has been quietly working alongside a select group of dedicated players to refine Marathon. Bungie revealed, “Every closed playtest was a chance for us to hear candid feedback about what’s working, what needs work, and where Marathon can shine.” Notable additions that emerged from this process include features like proximity chat and a solo queue option.

In a move to keep the gaming experience fair and engaging, Bungie has assured players that “Rewards Passes” will not expire, allowing gamers to purchase past passes at their convenience, mitigating any fear of missing out. Furthermore, the studio is committed to maintaining competitive integrity, ensuring that a player’s survival in Marathon will never hinge on how much money they’ve spent.
