Campbell’s has firmly stated that its soups do not contain meat from 3D printers, lab cultures, or genetically engineered sources. This clarification emerged on the company’s website following the release of a leaked audio recording in which Campbell’s vice president of information technology purportedly mentioned that the company’s meat originated from a 3D printer.

“A recent video has spread false information about our ingredients,” Campbell’s declared. “The statements made in the recording are not just inaccurate but also preposterous. We do not use lab-grown chicken or any kind of artificial or bioengineered meat in our soups.” The company emphasized that its chicken is sourced from respected suppliers in the United States, all of whom comply with USDA standards.

The audio surfaced in connection with a lawsuit brought against Campbell’s by a former employee, who claims to have taped a conversation with IT VP Martin Bally. In the recording, the individual identified as Bally allegedly makes racially insensitive remarks while labeling Campbell’s food as “bioengineered” and meant for “poor people.”

The recording captures the individual saying, “Even in a can of soup, I see it — and see bioengineered meat. I wouldn’t want to eat a piece of chicken that was 3D printed, would you?”

In response to these allegations, Campbell’s has placed Bally on leave while conducting an investigation. “It is important to note that the person making these alleged remarks is part of the IT department and has no involvement in food production,” Campbell’s stated.
