OpenAI is enhancing ChatGPT’s deep research tool by introducing a full-screen viewer, designed to make it easier to navigate and explore specific sections of its AI-generated reports. A video demonstration by OpenAI reveals that this new feature lets users open reports in a separate window apart from the chat interface. On the left, there’s a table of contents, and on the right, a list of sources is displayed.

Originally launched last year, the deep research feature allows ChatGPT to surf the web and gather comprehensive reports on topics of your interest. With the latest update, users can instruct ChatGPT to concentrate its research on particular websites and integrated applications.

Another innovative aspect of this update is the ability to monitor ChatGPT’s research in real-time. Users can modify the research scope or introduce new sources while the chatbot is busy compiling a report. Once finalized, the report can be downloaded in various formats, such as Markdown, Word, and PDF, from the revamped viewer.

According to OpenAI, these upgrades are being rolled out to Plus and Pro users starting today. Meanwhile, those subscribed to the new ChatGPT Go tier, along with free users, can expect to receive the deep research update in the “coming days.”
