Laptop Mag is closing down after almost 35 years of delivering detailed information about laptops and tech to consumers. During a staff meeting observed by The Verge, Faisal Alani, the global brand director at Laptop Mag owner Future PLC, announced, “After careful deliberation and reviewing our long-term plans, we’ve decided to discontinue the Laptop Mag business effective immediately.”

Over the years, Laptop Mag has undergone several transformations. It began as a print magazine in 1991 under Bedford Communications with the launch of the Laptop Buyers’ Guide and Handbook. In 2011, it was acquired by TechMedia Network (now known as Purch) and shifted to a digital-only format in 2013. Future PLC, the publisher behind titles like PC Gamer, Tom’s Guide, and TechRadar, later acquired Purch and Laptop Mag as part of that deal.

“We are extremely thankful for your hard work, skills, and contributions to Laptop Mag, and we are dedicated to supporting you during this transition,” stated Alani. The closure of Laptop Mag follows the shut down of another long-standing tech site, AnandTech, also owned by Future PLC. It remains unclear if Laptop Mag’s archives will be accessible after its closure. Future PLC has not provided any further comments.
