The anticipation surrounding the debut of Pluribus has been shrouded in mystery. Early on, only the basic storyline was disclosed: a woman, trapped in despair, finds herself in a world brimming with happiness. Despite the initial premise, subsequent trailers remained cryptic, offering little insight into the series. However, with the premiere of the first two episodes on Apple TV, audiences now have a clearer glimpse into what Pluribus truly embodies.
This air of mystery is precisely why I refrained from revealing any spoilers in my initial review. Pluribus thrives on the element of surprise, a vital component of its storytelling. Yet, the series also invites a deeper conversation. It’s a dialogue that creator Vince Gilligan, renowned for his work on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, eagerly seeks to spark.
Gilligan shared with me his enthusiasm for inciting discussions and social interactions. “I love the idea of generating conversations,” he revealed, expressing a preference for in-person discussions over social media engagements, although he’s open to any medium that gets people talking.
This is where you come in.
With the premiere now available for viewing, I’m inviting Verge subscribers to partake in a book club-style discussion about Pluribus in the comments. This space will allow us to delve into the series with a spoiler-rich dialogue, exploring theories and predictions based on what we’ve seen so far. Having previewed most of the season, I’m also here to answer some questions about the upcoming episodes, all while maintaining the suspense that each new airing deserves.
So, share your questions, theories, and any random musings about Pluribus here. I’ll be checking in throughout the day to engage in the conversation.
