In a recent development, Framework has announced a price hike for its desktop PCs, a move attributed to the ongoing global shortage of memory components. This update follows a prior increase in the cost of their RAM modules. Now, the Framework Desktop configured with 32GB of RAM and powered by an AMD Ryzen AI Max 385 chip will be priced at $1,139, up from the previous $1,099.

Framework shared their decision on the platform X, explaining, “We delayed this change for as long as possible, but today’s update in our Framework Desktop pricing reflects the significant rise in LPDDR5x costs from our suppliers. Our pricing adjustments merely aim to cover these increased expenses.”

Higher-end configurations of the Framework Desktop are also affected by this price surge. For instance, the version with 64GB of RAM and a Ryzen AI Max Plus 395 chip now costs $1,639, a $40 increase. Meanwhile, the 128GB version sees a more substantial rise from $1,999 to $2,459. Back in December, Framework hinted at the likelihood of further price adjustments, noting that another change in module prices could be expected within the following month.
