Gemini gets notebooks to help you organize projects

Google has introduced a new feature called “notebooks” for its Gemini platform, designed to consolidate information related to specific topics within the AI chatbot interface. Announced on Wednesday, this feature allows users to gather files, previous conversations, and tailored instructions into a cohesive notebook, which Gemini can then reference during interactions.

The concept of notebooks is reminiscent of ChatGPT’s Projects feature, which debuted in 2024, enabling users to collect topic-specific data in a single location. According to Google, users should envision these notebooks as personal knowledge repositories that integrate with various Google products, starting with Gemini. Notably, notebooks are synchronized with Google’s NotebookLM AI research tool, ensuring that any sources added in one application are accessible in both.

This week, Gemini’s notebooks are being launched on the web for subscribers of Google’s AI Ultra, Pro, and Plus plans. The feature is set to extend to mobile platforms and become available to free-tier users in the forthcoming weeks.
