X is now introducing a new feature that places its AI chatbot, Grok, at the helm of your social media experience. Announced on Wednesday by X’s product head, Nikita Bier, this innovation allows Premium subscribers using iOS to gain early access to a tool that lets users pin specific topics on their home tab. Grok will then tailor the content you see on your timeline based on these pinned interests.

“Grok offers a personalized experience by understanding each post and adapting the algorithm accordingly, creating a unique timeline just for you,” Bier explained. “The feature is even more effective when it aligns with topics you’re already interested in.”

Android users won’t have to wait long, as Bier mentioned that access to this Grok-enhanced timeline will be available to them shortly. Alongside these developments, Bier also revealed that X is phasing out X Communities, previously known as Communities, due to a decline in user engagement. This service, which allowed users to connect through feeds centered around specific topics, will be officially discontinued on May 6th. X is advising users to transition their communities to group chats within its XChat messaging service.

While X moves away from community-centric feeds, other platforms like Threads and Mastodon continue to support such features, emphasizing their commitment to this approach.

Earlier this year, Grok faced scrutiny from global lawmakers due to its AI image generation tool, which was reportedly used to undress individuals on the platform, including minors. Last month, teenagers filed a lawsuit against xAI, accusing Elon Musk and other executives of knowingly releasing Grok’s “spicy” image mode, which allegedly resulted in AI-generated child sexual abuse material.
