On Thursday, Meta AI unveiled a fresh feature named Vibes, which is a feed of short-form, AI-generated videos. This initiative aims to inspire users to remix AI videos originating from “creators and communities,” according to the company. Individuals have the option to upload their own AI-generated videos to Vibes or share them across Meta’s platforms for friends and followers to enjoy.
While AI-generated content appears, well, everywhere, the Vibes feed dedicated to AI-generated videos appears only on the Meta AI app.
Vibes takes the place of the Discover feed that previously allowed users to share their prompts and interactions with Meta AI to their followers. Meta’s VP of product, Connor Hayes, mentioned to The Verge that the feed initially aimed to display “people what they can do with” AI.
This current version, known as Vibes, is a video-centric approach distinct from the prior focus on prompts. It’s crafted to facilitate finding creative inspiration and experimenting with Meta AI’s media tools. The videos in Vibes are shown alongside the prompt that led to their creation. For example, a video presenting a group of unusually fluffy and strong mountain goats energetically crossing a snowy mountain terrain was the result of the following prompt:
“mountain goats leaping through deep snow; snowy alpine mountain range; majestic exhilarating atmosphere; bright cold natural daylight –sref 1616409542 –sref 4039725326 –stylize 200”
Users have the opportunity to remix videos by altering music, modifying images, or adjusting animation. These revised videos can then be uploaded to the Vibes feed or shared on Instagram or Facebook as stories or Reels. On Instagram, users are able to click on Meta AI videos to remix them through the Meta AI app.
