Microsoft is set to raise the cost of its Xbox Series S and X consoles in the United States next month. Starting October 3rd, the Xbox Series X will be available for $649.99, up from its previous price of $599.99. The Xbox Series S will see its price increase to $399.99 from $379.99.

The company attributes these price adjustments to “changes in the macroeconomic environment,” essentially pointing to tariffs as the core reason. Prices for Xbox consoles outside of the U.S. will remain unchanged. Luckily, the costs for controllers and headsets will also stay the same in the U.S.

With these hikes, the Xbox Series S will see a $20 increase, and the Xbox Series X will rise by $50. Additionally, the 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition Xbox Series X will see a $70 increase, bringing its price to $799.99.

Here’s the full list of price increases in the US:

Notably, Microsoft had already increased the prices of its Xbox offerings worldwide in May, affecting the consoles, controllers, and headsets. At that time, the Xbox Series X experienced a $100 markup, while the Series S went up by $80. Combined with this latest update, the U.S. price of the Xbox Series X has jumped by $150, and the Series S by $100 within a span of just six months.

The Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition was originally launched almost a year ago with a price tag of $599.99, and is now poised to hit $799.99 — marking a $200 rise within a year. These current increases represent the second round of price hikes for 2023.
