LOS ANGELES — From executive producer Ryan Coogler comes “Ironheart.”
The Marvel series “Ironheart” begins after “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and centers around Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), a young and gifted inventor. Her innovative approach to crafting iron suits catches attention, and as she follows her dreams, she encounters the enigmatic yet captivating Parker Robbins, also known as ‘The Hood’ (Anthony Ramos).
Riri Williams makes her entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” As a student at MIT, her iron suits stand toe-to-toe with those of Tony Stark. Her vibranium detector becomes highly sought after by the CIA. She finds herself at risk from the Talokanil people and the U.S. government, prompting the Wakandans to enlist her help, leading her to participate in the Talokanil-Wakandan War before she heads back to her regular life.
Now, she’s back in Chicago putting her skills to the test in hopes of building something “iconic,” she says in the trailer.
“Anyone who’s ever accomplished anything iconic in life has had to do some questionable things to get it done,” Robbins tells her.

Coogler comments, “Ironheart is a remarkable character in the comics.” Created in 2016 by Brian Michael Bendis, she represents a continuation of the Iron Man legacy. In the comics, Riri and Tony Stark share a bond; she’s an MIT student from a background strikingly different from his, yet they connect through their desire to improve the world. Riri eventually emerges with her own persona as Ironheart, with authors like Eve Ewing further developing her story and placing her adventures in Chicago.
“The story of Ironheart is not about the mantle of Iron Man getting passed. If anything, it’s the opposite, said Brad Winderbaum, executive producer of the series.
Executive producer Zoie Nagelhout added, “It’s really about her proving herself and achieving her own legacy.”
