The upcoming season will be helmed by Kai Ikarashi, the director of “Girl on Fire,” the sixth episode from the first season. Although there’s no confirmed release date for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, they have unveiled some new poster artwork. Additionally, a trailer is scheduled to be revealed later tonight during a panel discussion at 8:30PM PT hosted by the animation studio, Trigger.
At a panel on Friday, showrunner and writer Bartosz Sztybor shared that his goal for the first season was to evoke a sense of sadness, stating, “I just wanted to make the whole world sad… when people are sad, I’m a bit happy.” He mentioned that this new 10-episode season will be “…of course, sadder, but it will also be darker, more bloody, and more raw.”
A brief summary of the follow-up series tells fans what to expect following the end of David’s story in season one:
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 introduces a unique 10-episode narrative set within the universe of Cyberpunk 2077—a gritty tale of redemption and vengeance. In a city flourishing under the glow of brutality, it raises the question: when the world is mesmerized by the spectacle, how far must you go to ensure your story is heard?
