For the past few years, Netflix has been discreetly accumulating episodes of a new show titled Famous Last Words, which features interviews with well-known individuals in their later years. The unique aspect of this show is that episodes are only released posthumously. Although the full roster of interviewees remains a well-kept secret, Netflix quietly launched the first episode last week, showcasing Jane Goodall.

This program is a reimagining of the Danish TV series Det Sidste Ord (The Last Word). In the Netflix iteration, Brad Falchuk, recognized as the co-creator of American Horror Story and Glee, conducts each interview on an empty soundstage using remotely controlled cameras. In these intimate discussions, Falchuk often poses questions in the past tense, reminding participants that “they are gone.”

If Goodall’s episode is any indication of what’s to come, viewers can anticipate forthcoming episodes to feature unfiltered opinions from celebrities who are no longer concerned about public repercussions. Although Goodall was quite outspoken during her lifetime, she holds nothing back in what seems to be her final conversation:

“Of course, there are individuals I dislike, and I’d love to have them board one of Musk’s rockets and send them off to the planet he’s eager to discover … He’d lead the mission … Along with Musk would be Trump … Also, I’d add Putin to the list. And I’d include President Xi. Netanyahu and his far-right government certainly make the cut. Send them all off on that spaceship.” – Jane Goodall
