Netflix is set to broadcast a select game on the Opening Night of each MLB season, along with the Home Run Derby and an annual “special event game.” In 2026, this event will be the “Field of Dreams” game, taking place in Dyersville, Iowa, on August 13th, featuring the Minnesota Twins and the Philadelphia Phillies.

The coverage secured by the three networks replaces a previous media arrangement MLB had solely with ESPN. NBC, in particular, benefits with rights to the Sunday Night Baseball game, draft coverage, and additional games for its platforms. The league notes that “some Sunday night games will stream on Peacock and simulcast on NBCSN when overlapping with pre-existing media rights deals on NBC.” Moreover, Peacock will also host MLB’s Sunday Leadoff games, which kick off around noon, and will be simulcast on the revitalized NBC Sports Network.

Meanwhile, ESPN has clinched a deal to broadcast 30 exclusive games per season on its channels and the ESPN app. Additionally, it will stream 150 out-of-market games, offering one each day on the ESPN app, and provide the option to sell MLB Network and certain in-market games through the app.
