Nomad has unveiled an upgraded version of its tracking card, specifically designed to fit snugly in wallets or billfolds, boasting a significant enhancement in battery longevity. The new Tracking Card Pro impressively operates for up to 16 months on a single charge, compared to the standard edition, which lasts approximately five months. Available now on Nomad’s website, it retails for $39—$10 more than its predecessor. However, purchasing two cards entitles you to a 10% discount.

While the Tracking Card Pro comes with a heftier price, it’s not the only consideration. To house a more substantial battery, the updated model measures 2.5mm in thickness, as opposed to the 1.7mm of the standard version, yet it remains considerably slimmer than Apple’s 8mm thick AirTags. Constructed from polycarbonate with exposed aluminum edges, the Tracking Card Pro weighs in at 15 grams, adding a slight increase in heft.

In terms of functionality, the Pro model mirrors its predecessor with compatibility for Apple’s Find My network and the ability to emit audible alerts when in proximity of less than 150 feet. It also supports wireless charging. Although the card lacks built-in magnets, it contains enough metal to adhere to MagSafe or Qi2-compatible magnetic charging pads.

The extended battery life is a boon for those prone to forgetting to charge or replace tracker batteries. Nonetheless, Pebblebee’s newly introduced Card 5 wallet tracker might be a more appealing choice. Priced at $34.99, it’s thinner at 1.74mm, supports both Apple’s Find My and Google’s Find Hub networks, and offers wireless charging with an impressive battery life of up to 18 months.
