Oura is unveiling a revamped app that comes loaded with enhanced tools for tracking stress, alongside developing features aimed at detecting potential indicators of high blood pressure.

The newly updated application will feature the Cumulative Stress tool, offering users a weekly snapshot of how their bodies handle and recuperate from prolonged stress. This is achieved by analyzing data such as sleep patterns, heart rate, body temperature, and physical activity. According to Oura, the redesigned app, including the Cumulative Stress function and a fresh stress management dashboard, will be released globally on iOS and Android platforms “in the coming weeks.”

Additionally, Oura has disclosed its collaboration with the FDA on a blood pressure study intended for U.S.-based members of its Oura Labs early access platform, expected to roll out “in the coming months.” The goal is to create a feature capable of “detecting early signs of hypertension,” which refers to unusually high blood pressure levels in the vessels.

Participants in the study will receive notifications about their current risk of hypertension. This assessment will merge data from the Oura Ring with responses from a questionnaire that includes family medical history, medication usage, and lifestyle habits. It’s worth noting that several Apple Watch models have already integrated hypertension alerts, following FDA approval in September.
