Swedish automaker Polestar, under the ownership of China’s Geely, has announced a series of exciting vehicle launches. This summer, they will begin delivering the Polestar 5 grand tourer to customers. Later, in the fourth quarter, a new extended-roof version of the Polestar 4 will be unveiled. Looking ahead, early 2027 will see the production of a successor to the Polestar 2, and by 2028, the Polestar 7, a compact premium SUV, is set to hit the market.

This announcement follows a period of robust sales for Polestar in 2025, where the company saw full-year sales climb to approximately 60,119 vehicles, marking a 34% increase over the previous year. Despite this sales growth, Polestar reported a substantial net loss of $1.558 billion during the first nine months of 2025, even as revenue surged by 49% to $2.17 billion.

Geely has consistently supported Polestar through equity investments and loan guarantees. The automaker aims to sustain its sales momentum and mitigate losses through cost-effective updates, such as redesigning the Polestar 4 and revamping the Polestar 2.

The upcoming Polestar 5 promises impressive features, including a 460-mile range, an 800-volt architecture for rapid charging, 884 horsepower, and an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds for the Performance model. Polestar CEO Michael Longscheller describes the 5 as the “brand halo car,” elevating performance and luxury within the grand-tourer category. The four-door GT is anticipated to be priced at over $120,000 upon its release.

The Polestar 4, which has already made headlines for its unconventional design lacking a rear windshield, is undergoing a transformation into a more estate-like vehicle tailored for the European market. “Sweden is renowned for its estate cars, and its SUVs are of world-class quality,” Longscheller states in a press release. “We are merging the spaciousness of an estate with the versatility of an SUV, all while maintaining Polestar’s dynamic performance.”

Having ceased orders for the Polestar 2 last year, concerns emerged that the brand might phase out the model that initially put it in the spotlight. However, Longscheller reassures that the company is working at “record speed” to launch the next-generation Polestar 2 by the beginning of 2027.

Lastly, the Polestar 7 SUV will compete “the largest EV segment in Europe,” which is compact SUVs, Longscheller says: “We are convinced that we can offer customers a progressive performance-driven car for a very attractive price point, built in Europe.”
