You’ll be able to change the color of Virtual Boy games on Nintendo Switch Online

In a fresh update since its announcement last September, Nintendo has unveiled an exciting trailer showcasing the Virtual Boy games set to join the Switch Online platform starting February 17th. Alongside these games, revamped headset accessories will also be available. Notably, Nintendo has introduced a new feature allowing players to modify the color scheme of these classic Virtual Boy titles, which were originally displayed in a stark red hue.

The Virtual Boy experience is brought to life through two types of headsets: a premium version priced at $99.99 and a more affordable cardboard variant at $24.99. Both require a Switch or Switch 2 console for gameplay. The initial game lineup, available on February 17th, includes classics like Teleroboxer, Galactic Pinball, Red Alarm, Golf, Virtual Boy Wario Land, 3-D Tetris, and The Mansion of Innsmouth.

Additional titles are slated for release in 2026, such as Mario Clash, Mario’s Tennis, Jack Bros., Space Invaders Virtual Collection, Virtual Bowling, Vertical Force, and V-Tetris. Excitingly, Nintendo Switch Online will also debut two previously unreleased Virtual Boy games, Zero Racers and D-Hopper, later this year.

Subscribers will enjoy the ability to rewind and replay games on the Switch Online platform, with customizable controls enhancing the experience. However, as the original Virtual Boy’s distinctive controller with dual D-pads is not included with the headsets, this feature becomes particularly beneficial. The color-changing option, set to enrich the gaming experience further, will unfortunately be exclusive to the pricier Virtual Boy headset, necessitating the removal of its lens cover for activation.
