Each year, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) showcases an array of innovative and sometimes peculiar new technologies. This year, a company called Tomorrow Doesn’t Matter (TDM) stole the spotlight with their unique headphones, the Neo. These headphones come with an unprecedented twist—they can transform into a compact Bluetooth speaker with a simple roll-up action, reminiscent of a hedgehog curling up. Originally, TDM planned to launch the Neo through a Kickstarter campaign this January, but it has now been rescheduled to begin on February 10th, 2026.
For those eager to get their hands on this inventive technology, the Neo headphones will retail for $249 when they hit the market in July 2026. However, early supporters have the opportunity to snag them for a reduced price of $179 by backing the Kickstarter campaign.
The Neo headphones are designed to enhance music sharing experiences. They feature 40mm drivers on both the inside and outside of each earcup. In standard headphone mode, only the inward-facing drivers are active, ensuring a private listening experience. When rolled up, the headphones seamlessly shift to speaker mode, utilizing the outward-facing drivers. Users can also manually toggle between these modes with a dedicated button, providing flexibility in how they choose to enjoy their music.
John Higgins from The Verge had the privilege of testing the Neo headphones at CES 2026. He noted that while the headphones carry some heft due to their built-in batteries and additional hardware, the transition between modes was not only swift and straightforward but also added an element of enjoyment to the user experience.
