Rivian’s well-funded micromobility spinoff, Also, has set October 22nd as a date to unveil something new. They’re branding it as “transcendent mobility,” which seems to be a sophisticated term for an e-bike, following a leak of a video that hinted at a distinctive design.

Although Also is legally separate from Rivian, it is led by Rivian’s founder and CEO, RJ Scaringe. Moreover, Rivian holds a significant minority interest in the startup.

Electrek’s Micah Toll meticulously went through a recent teaser video frame-by-frame, managing to extract some blurred images that Also didn’t fully conceal. What’s visible is a compact, pedal-assisted commuter bike that can transform into a utility vehicle with optional cargo racks, integrated lights, and what seems to be 20-inch wheels. The design appears to be a mix between a compact Gocycle electric bike and a Cake electric scooter. There’s hope that the battery will be easily replaceable and that it can fold for seamless multimodal transport on trains, trams, and at the back of a Rivian.

Previously, Palo Alto-based Also had expressed an intention to introduce its first flagship product in early 2026, initially targeting the US and Europe. This suggests that whatever is announced on October 22nd may feature an extended preorder period, aligning with typical EV company practices, even when the product in question is a bicycle.
