Roblox has experienced a decline in daily active users over the past quarter, partly attributed to its introduction of age verification measures. The company’s recent earnings report reveals that its global daily active user count has decreased to 132 million, down from 144 million at last year’s close, and a further decline from 152 million in the third quarter of 2025. Although the user base in the US and Canada fell by a million from the previous quarter, Roblox’s revenue climbed to $1.4 billion.
The company attributes its first-quarter growth slowdown to unexpected challenges, notably the implementation of its age-check system, which has hindered new user acquisition. Additionally, Russia’s ban on Roblox in December 2025 has contributed to the dwindling daily active user numbers.
Earlier this month, Roblox enhanced its age restrictions by regulating game access for different age groups, and the company plans to introduce further enhancements to ensure age-appropriate content access in the coming quarters. This focus on safety is expected to impact Roblox’s revenue growth projections for 2026.
The recent earnings report indicates that by the end of the first quarter, 51% of global daily active users have completed age verification, with 65% compliance in the US specifically.
In an effort to expand its content for users above 18, Roblox has announced an increase in the Developer Exchange rate by 42% for in-game transactions involving age-verified users over 18, reflecting its push to cater to a more mature audience.
