The Fujifilm X Half is on sale for what it should have originally cost

When Fujifilm launched its quirky X Half earlier this year, it stirred quite a mix of emotions among photography enthusiasts. Reactions ranged from enthusiastic curiosity—”This looks like so much fun!”—to disbelief over its price tag. Initially listed at $849.95, many felt the cost was steep for a playful, carefree point-and-shoot camera. However, a price drop to $649 has made it considerably more appealing.

The X Half is equipped with a 1-inch sensor and a fixed 32mm-equivalent f/2.8 lens, appealing to those who cherish a touch of nostalgia. It goes the extra mile with features reminiscent of classic analog photography. Beyond its vintage film simulations, it even includes a mode that requires the user to manually “advance” the roll between shots, adding to its undeniable charm.

While the X Half exudes a retro feel, it remains a thoroughly modern digital camera. However, potential buyers should be aware that it lacks some of the features typically found in high-end point-and-shoots. There is no electronic viewfinder, image stabilization, or RAW mode. While these omissions might make its original price hard to justify, the discounted rate could be just the nudge needed to indulge in this innovative and, dare we say, fun gadget.
