However, significant price reductions on its portable speakers outside these occasions are rare. Fortunately, for those not interested in the Sonos Move 2 or the upcoming Sonos Play, the Sonos Roam 2 is currently on sale for $139 at Amazon, Walmart, and Sonos, which is a $40 discount and only $5 above its all-time low price.

While the original Sonos Roam was a solid performer, the Roam 2 introduces some noteworthy improvements, particularly for those who found Bluetooth pairing with the first generation challenging. This latest model features a convenient pairing button on the back, eliminating the need to hold down the power button for syncing with a new device. Additionally, it seamlessly integrates with the broader Sonos ecosystem through your home Wi-Fi network.

The sound quality in the Roam 2 remains consistent with its predecessor, which isn’t a drawback. The original Roam was praised for its exceptional sound in its category, delivering clear vocals and satisfying depth, especially when enhanced by Sonos’s Trueplay room optimization technology. Although the USB-C port is still only for charging and the battery life maxes out at 10 hours, the speaker is ideal for short outings like a park visit or a pool afternoon, thanks to its IP67 waterproof rating, allowing it to survive up to 30 minutes submerged in three feet of water.

One of the most promising updates is Sonos’s claim of improved battery longevity through under-the-hood adjustments, addressing a key issue with the earlier model. While I haven’t used the Roam 2 long enough to confirm this, the initial experience has been positive.
