Former President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Netflix, suggesting the streaming giant could face “consequences” should it refuse to dismiss Susan Rice from its board. Rice, who has played significant roles in both the Obama and Biden administrations, recently made waves during an appearance on Preet Bharara’s podcast. On the show, she remarked that businesses aligning themselves too closely with Trump might find themselves in a precarious position, stating they could be “caught with more than their pants down” and “held accountable.”
Her comments quickly gained traction among right-wing circles, with notable reactions from influencer and conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer. Loomer accused Rice of intending to “threaten half the country with weaponized government and political retribution.” She further highlighted the fact that Netflix, with Rice as a board member, is in the midst of potential merger discussions with Warner Bros.
This narrative fits neatly into one of Trump’s recurrent themes: the notion that he is a victim of political persecution. He often accuses Democrats of weaponizing government institutions, including the Department of Justice, against their political adversaries. Seizing upon Loomer’s assertions, Trump declared via his social media channels that “Netflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice, IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences,” amplifying his call for action against Rice.
