Xthings is making a splash at CES with an array of innovative products, including two smart locks and several advanced security cameras. Among these, the standout is undoubtedly the Ultraloq Bolt Sense, a sleek smart deadbolt that offers a seamless, hands-free entry experience by combining facial recognition technology with palm vein authentication, eliminating the need for a smartphone app.

While palm scanning technology is still emerging in the consumer sector, Xthings asserts that it is more dependable than fingerprint scanning. This is because it reads the unique vein pattern beneath the skin, ensuring functionality even if your hands are wet or dirty. Plus, since vein scanning utilizes near-infrared light, it operates effectively in complete darkness.

The Bolt Sense comes equipped with integrated Wi-Fi and is expected to support Matter connectivity in the future. With a projected release in the second quarter, there is ample time for these features to be refined. Xthings is also unveiling the Latch 7 Pro, anticipated to arrive sooner in the first quarter. Although it doesn’t feature palm-scanning technology, it will be compatible with Matter-over-Thread and Aliro.

Additionally, Xthings will introduce the Ulticam IQ V2 at CES, marking its first camera to incorporate Matter support.

Perhaps even more noteworthy is the Ulticam HaLow, poised to be among the pioneering security cameras to utilize Wi-Fi HaLow (802.11ah). This technology employs sub-GHz signals to offer extended range and improved wall penetration, albeit with reduced bandwidth. While Xthings hasn’t specified the exact range of the new Ulticam, Wi-Fi HaLow can reach up to 0.6 miles under typical conditions, making it ideal for expansive properties. Despite its initial buzz at CES back in 2016, HaLow hasn’t gained widespread traction. To address compatibility concerns, Xthings includes a dedicated hub with the Ulticam HaLow.

For those prioritizing high-quality video capture in low-light conditions, Xthings is also debuting the Ulticam IQ Floodlight. This model combines an AI-driven security camera with powerful 2,000-lumen floodlights, though it lacks the extensive range offered by the Wi-Fi HaLow technology.
