Samsung has rolled out an exciting update to its SmartThings platform, now incorporating support for Siri Shortcuts. The company revealed in a press release that users can leverage Apple’s voice assistant, Siri, to manage SmartThings routines, offering a seamless way to control smart home environments.

iOS users benefit from Siri Shortcuts by running automations with simple voice commands. These shortcuts can be customized by users within the Shortcuts app or pre-designed by manufacturers in their respective applications.

This latest enhancement aims to simplify smart home management for Apple device users, including those with an iPhone, HomePod, or other Apple devices. Imagine waking up and asking Siri to initiate your “Good morning” routine via SmartThings, which could include dimming your lights, brewing your morning coffee, and opening your blinds—all hands-free.

Moreover, Samsung is boosting the functionality of its SmartThings app on Apple devices. Apple Watch users can now access a comprehensive list of their smart devices, execute commands, and engage routines directly from their wrist. Meanwhile, the SmartThings app on iOS allows users to monitor and control up to five of their most recently accessed devices right from the lock screen, thanks to the integration of Live Activities.
