Deltarune’s next chapters will launch alongside the Switch 2

The commercial release of Deltarune, Toby Fox’s episodic spin-off of Undertale, is set to coincide with the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch in Japan, as detailed in the May 2025 Deltarune newsletter. The first two chapters of Deltarune, released in 2018 and 2021 respectively, were complementary. However, this new edition, which includes chapters 3 and 4, will be a premium version priced at $24.99.

The timing of the release might seem a bit perplexing, so let me clarify. For platforms like PS4, PS5, Steam, and the original Switch, Deltarune will become available on June 5th at midnight in Japan. This equates to June 4th at 11AM ET / 8AM PT for those in the US.

Conversely, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Deltarune will be released at midnight local time in most regions on June 5th. This arrangement affords a small advantage to players in New Zealand or Australia who acquire a Switch 2 at midnight, allowing them an early start. “However, for simplicity’s sake, we’ll just disregard you and act as if the game has not launched… Meanwhile, please refrain from mentioning it,” Fox remarks.
