The American iteration of TikTok is grappling with issues once more, stemming from an Oracle outage, barely a month after recovering from a similar disruption in February.
The current interruption originated at Oracle’s data facility in Ashburn, Virginia, commencing early Tuesday afternoon. Reports began to surge on Downdetector around 1 PM Eastern. In a statement on X, TikTok USDS acknowledged that U.S. users might encounter temporary delays in posting content as Oracle strives to rectify the situation.
This marks the second instance of service interruptions for TikTok in the United States following a January agreement that shifted majority ownership away from ByteDance, the app’s original Chinese parent company. The initial disruptions arose soon after TikTok USDS, a collaboration that includes Oracle, assumed control of the app in the U.S. as part of that agreement. The earlier issues were attributed to a power failure at an Oracle data center, according to TikTok USDS.
