Verizon has informed its customers both in-store and online about a network issue occurring on Saturday. Numerous users have experienced difficulties with connecting and making or receiving calls for several hours, with DownDetector registering a peak of more than 20,000 reports by 3:30 PM ET. Despite this, some customers have reported uninterrupted service, leaving the exact cause uncertain.
Downdetector’s outage map highlighted problem areas across numerous cities, though Verizon has not identified which specific locations are impacted. In response to customer inquiries on X, the @VerizonSupport account acknowledged the problem but did not provide further details about restoration efforts or the extent of the outage.
Verizon’s Karen Schulz responded to our inquiry about the issue and confirmed the outage via email, saying,
We are currently addressing a software issue that is affecting wireless service for some users. Our engineering team is working diligently to diagnose and resolve the problem. For updates on service availability in your region, please check our Check Network Status page. We understand the importance of reliable service and apologize for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your patience.
If there’s any additional information or the situation changes, we will update this post.
