Microsoft is set to enhance the audio experience on Windows 11 with an exciting new feature: shared audio. This innovative addition will allow users to stream sound to two pairs of wireless headphones, speakers, earbuds, or even hearing aids simultaneously. Utilizing the advanced Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) audio codec, this feature is currently being tested by Windows 11 Insiders as it rolls out in preview within the Dev and Beta channels.

The shared audio capability is perfect for those moments when you want to enjoy a movie with a friend or showcase a new song to a family member, all while using your individual wireless headsets. To take advantage of this feature, simply connect Bluetooth LE-compatible devices to your Windows 11 computer and activate the “Shared audio (preview)” option found in the quick settings menu.

Initially, this shared audio functionality is exclusive to certain Copilot Plus PCs. This includes models like the 13.8 and 15-inch Surface Laptops and the 13-inch Surface Pro. However, plans are in place to extend support to additional devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Book5 360, Galaxy Book5 Pro, and the 13-inch Surface Laptop in the near future. Compatibility is currently limited to devices that support Bluetooth LE, including the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Buds 3, Buds 3 Pro, and the Sony WH-1000XM6 wireless headphones.
