The January transfer window is just over a month away and a number of Premier League clubs look set to be busy this winter as they hope to either strengthen already solid platforms or address key issues.

Arsenal are among the clubs looking to do business, with Mikel Arteta reportedly planning to overhaul his midfield in January and test Aston Villa’s resolve with a bid for Douglas Luiz. 

Meanwhile, Chelsea have told Mauricio Pochettino he must sell if he wants to buy in January and Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou could be reunited with one of his former Celtic players.

Arsenal are considering selling Thomas Partey in January as Mikel Arteta looks to raise funds to overhaul his midfield options. The Ghanaian has been plagued by injuries this season and won’t return until January after undergoing surgery to address a thigh problem. (ESPN)

Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz is Arsenal’s main target for their midfield reshuffle in January. The Brazilian has been a key figure of Unai Emery’s side this season, starting all 13 Premier League games. Arsenal had three separate bids for Luiz in the region of £25million rejected in the summer of 2022. (ESPN)

Arsenal have rejected a loan offer for Aaron Ramsdale, with Mikel Arteta seemingly determined to keep the England goalkeeper at the Emirates. Ramsdale was ever-present in the Premier League last season, but lost his place in the starting XI to David Raya this term. (Football.London)

Tottenham are looking to sign former Celtic winger Jota on loan in January in a bid to solve the injury crisis that has checked their momentum. The Portuguese spent two seasons under Ange Postecoglou at Celtic before signing for Al-Ittihad in a £25m deal this summer, but has played just twice in the past two months. (The Times)

Spurs are monitoring Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, who has scored 18 goals in 16 games in all competitions this season. Arsenal are also interested in the 22-year-old Mexican. (L’Equipe – in French)

Mauricio Pochettino has been told he must sell players if he wants to make signings in January, with Chelsea’s hierarchy determined to avoid the squad growing bloated as it did under Graham Potter. (The Telegraph)

Chelsea will listen to offers for left-back Ian Maatsen, while Malanga Sarr is up for sale and the future of striker Armando Broja and winger Noni Madueke remains uncertain. (The Telegraph)

Chelsea will make a decision on Thiago Silva’s future when his contract expires at the end of the season. The veteran Brazilian became Chelsea’s oldest-ever player when he played against Newcastle on Saturday aged 39 years and 64 days and has given no indication he plans to retire. (Evening Standard)

Trevoh Chalobah could leave Chelsea in January with the Blues expected to demand approximately £25m for the defender, who is out until the new year with a hamstring injury. (Evening Standard)
