A police investigation into the alleged plot began after Australian Border Force (ABF) officers found 10 plastic-wrapped sealed bags of a crystal substance inside a shipment of granite tiles on April 22, 2025.
The consignment of tiles had voids that were filled with the substance, the ABF said.
Initial testing of the substance returned positive results for methamphetamine, while another sealed package returned positive results for heroin.
A total of 215kg of methamphetamine and 3kg of heroin were allegedly being carried inside the tiles.
The ABF reported the discovery to the Australian Federal Police who then took over the investigation.
AFP officers raided several homes as part of the investigation, including a business in Shell Cove on May 6.
They also executed search warrants at a business in Llandilo and a home in Drummoyne yesterday, where a 57-year-old man was arrested.
He has been charged with two counts of importing a border-controlled drug.
He fronted Downing Centre Local Court yesterday.
