Mom of Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin describes radical shift in last year: 'More pro-gay and trans rights'

OREM, Utah — Tyler Robinson’s mother revealed to investigators that she had observed a significant transformation in him during the year leading up to the Utah college shooting of Turning Point USA founder, Charlie Kirk.

Once a promising college scholarship winner, Robinson had “grown more political,” leaning toward leftist views and advocating for “pro-gay and trans rights,” according to his mother, as stated in court filings.

She also recalled frequent heated disputes between Robinson and his father, who had starkly contrasting beliefs, leading to regular clashes over their differing ideologies.

At one time, she shared with the police that her son referred to Kirk’s Utah Valley University (UVU) event as a “pointless” affair, accusing Kirk of “spreading too much hate.”

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino told “America’s Newsroom” Monday that investigators were looking into whether Robinson had any potential accomplices.

He alleged that Robinson had made threats against Kirk to acquaintances before the shooting, but his statements were still being investigated.

“It seems from the information we’ve gathered that this ideology had consumed him and became all-encompassing,” Bongino remarked. “He was determined to target Charlie, and others might have been aware beforehand.”
