Ernesto Ceraldi 43 – Officer Ernesto Ceraldi of the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) admitted to attempting rape and causing actual bodily damage. He will be sentenced on June 22nd at Preston Crown Court.

Ernesto Ceraldi, a police marksman, faces a lengthy prison sentence after forcing himself on a woman he met in a pub by displaying his warrant card.

His predatory behavior, which his deputy chief constable called as “nothing short of appalling,” is the latest example of male police officers misusing their position to harass women.

Ceraldi was charged with sexual assault and bodily harm. Later, the rape accusation was reduced to attempted rape. Judge Simon Medland remanded him in detention, warning him that he faced a “substantial” prison sentence. On the 22nd of June, he will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court.

Officer Ernesto Ceraldi works for Greater Manchester Police as a professional firearms officer and dog handler. According to reports, he worked for Greater Manchester Police for 21 years.

The 43-year-old firearms officer and dog trainer admitted to trying to rape the victim and physically harming her.

Ceraldi met the victim while off duty on a night out with friends in Edenfield, Lancashire, on April 2. He gained the woman’s trust by showing her his warrant card and images of his police dog. At 1:30 a.m., the victim’s neighbor raised the alarm after hearing her screaming. Ernesto Ceraldi was then discovered naked outside her home.

Later, prosecutors arrived and were informed that the intercourse was consensual. They claimed that the victim accused him of yanking her hair, spitting at her, and placing his hands around her throat.

Since his arrest, he has been detained. District Judge Jack McGarva first granted him bail on the condition that he lives at the force training center under a nightly curfew and hand over his passport.

On the other hand, prosecutor Peter Beardsley challenged the ruling, claiming that Ceraldi should be kept in detention for his safety.
