George William Russell, aka George Russell is a popular British racing driver currently competing in Formula One, the highest class of international racing, for Mercedes.

George, however, managed to finish fourth at Imola, having started 11th. His Mercedes teammate, Lewis Hamilton, endures a fruitless and frustrating race in 13th and the race winner’s ignominy of being lapped by Max Verstappen.

The Mercedes suffered from the porpoising, the violent bouncing on the straight caused by the effect of ground aero unloading and loading, that stymied their car’s performance all season.

It was particularly severe at Imola, and to lessen it, Mercedes had to compromise their set-up, which ultimately affected tire grip and downforce with knock-on issues across the car.

Growing up karting in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, George studied at the Wisbech Grammar School before moving to Milton Keynes at the age of 18 years old to be closer to his racing teams.

Like his father, Steve, George is also a fan of Wolverhampton Wanderers, commonly known as Wolves, Football Club. George started karting in 2006 and progressed through to the cadet class by 2009.

In November of the same year, it was announced that the racing driver would make his Formula One practice debut at the Brazilian Grand Prix driving in the first practice season for Force India.

Subsequently, it was announced that Russell would drive for them in the first practice session for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, a Formula One motor race held on November 26, 2017.
