Jose Eduardo Dos Santos is an Angolan politician who was president from 1979 to 2017. Santos served as President of Angola and Commander in Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).
He was the President of the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), the country’s ruling party, since 1975.
José Eduardo dos Santos has six children from his three wives and one child born out of wedlock.
Tatiana Kukanova, a Russian-born woman he met while studying in Azerbaijan, was his first wife. Isabel dos Santos, Africa’s richest woman, is one of Dos Santos’ and Kukanova’s children.
José Filomeno dos Santos, who served as Chair of Fundo Soberano de Angola, was one of his children with Filomena Sousa. Coréon D, an Angolan artist, is one of his children with Maria Luisa Abrantes Perdigo.
He was married to Ana Paula dos Santos, a former fashion model, and air hostess, in 1991. He and his family have amassed considerable personal wealth.
