The man who was killed in the horrifying attack near Richmond Bridge has been revealed as Ian Wright’s friend.

Boxer Reece Newcombe, 31, helped train the ex-Arsenal footballer for a charity boxing match and has just become father to a baby girl Misse in June.

The Mail Online previously reported that police were called to the scene in south-west London at about 4am on Saturday and found a man in his early 30s who had suffered serious injuries.

The Metropolitan Police said officers administered CPR before paramedics took over and transported him to hospital, where he died later that morning.

Writing on social media, they said: ‘This is the hardest thing for us to write.

‘We are truly heartbroken at the loss of our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin.

‘Words cannot describe our grief. Our family is broken and never will be the same again without Reece’s larger than life personality.

‘As a family, we will make sure his darling daughter Misse will know all about her Daddy and how much he loved her and how much he was loved by everyone.’

They added: ‘We appreciate everyone’s love and support. RIP our beloved Reecey Bear.’
