Ed Miliband was born in University College Hospital in Fitzrovia, London, to immigrant parents. Marion Kozak, a human rights activist and founding member of CND, is a Polish Jew who escaped the Holocaust thanks to Catholic Poles’ protection.
Ralph Miliband, his father, was a Belgian-born Polish Jewish Marxist academic whose father fled to England with him during WWII.
The family lived in Primrose Hill, London, on Edis Street. As of 2010, his older brother, David Miliband, still owns the residence.
In 1972, Ralph left his academic position at the London School of Economics to become a Professor of Politics at the University of Leeds. Miliband and his family moved to Leeds in 1973, and he attended Featherbank Infant School in Horsforth from 1974 to 1977, where he became a Leeds United fan.
