Judge Penney Azcarate had a conference to attend on Thursday, May 5; therefore the court was deferred for the break. At the close of last week, both sides expressed optimism about the pace of the proceedings.

When the trial began on April 11, Azcarate informed jurors of the scheduling difficulty. The conference’s details have not been publicized, but it is unrelated to the trial.

After Amber wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post in 2018 characterizing herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse,” Johnny, 58, is suing Heard, 36, for defamation.

Despite the fact that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star was not identified in the article, he claims it wrecked his reputation, harmed his career, and cost him tens of millions of dollars in work.

Heard claims Depp abused her on several occasions. Her attorneys also claim that Depp’s career was declining even before the op-ed.

Depp claims he was the victim in their relationship and disputes Heard’s charges of abuse.

Further, according to Law & Crime, Depp will be brought back to the witness stand in connection with Heard’s case. Whitney Henriquez, Heard’s sister and actress Ellen Barkin, with whom Depp had a brief tie in the 1990s, will also testify before the jury.
