JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jaguars running back Travis Etienne is in the final year of his rookie contract.

Etienne is coming off his least successful NFL season, experiencing a notable drop in carries, rushing yards, and touchdowns—marking career lows.

In 2024 Etienne had 150 attempts, for 558 yards and two rushing touchdowns all career lows.

In 2023 Eitenne had 267 attempts, 1,008 and 11 touchdowns.

In 2022 Etienne had 220 attempts, 1,125 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Now it’s important to that Etienne suffered a hamstring in week 6 last season and it impacted him the entire season.

Despite rumors suggesting he’s not favored by the new regime, Etienne mentions that head coach Liam Coen assured him of his talent, emphasizing that it’s about getting the ball to players. Etienne is confident that coach Liam will place him in situations where he can excel.

Etienne added coach Liam has a great football mind and that’s what they needed here in Jacksonville. Etienne says Liam is a first time head coach, who is hungry and he’s going to put them in position to make plays. He added Liam is going to put them in position to win football games and he’s really excited to see what he does with him in the backfield.

Now the Jaguars drafted two running backs in the 2025 NFL Draft, Bhayshul Tuten from Virginia Tech in the 4th round.

The Jaguars also drafted LeQuint Allen Jr out of Syracuse in the 7th.

Etienne says despite the additions to the backfield he believes that without question he’s the Jaguars #1 tailback.
