Thousands of Teslas have been urgently recalled over an issue with their automatic windows.

A significant software issue is affecting 7,301 of the 2025 model-Y Teslas. This problem causes the automatic windows to close with too much force when they encounter an obstruction, like a body part.

The recall documentation for the vehicle states that if a body part is present in the window area while the driver’s side window is shutting, it could raise the chance of injury for someone inside the car.

Owners of impacted cars will be contacted by Tesla.

The issue can be addressed with a software update and does not require a service appointment.

Cars running the software version 2025.26.6 are not impacted by this issue.

Over one million Teslas were recalled in the US in 2022 over a similar issue which impacted Model 3 and Model S variants.

In this recall, it was noted the car’s automatic windows may not “react correctly” if an obstruction is detected.

A recall was issued in Australia in March for hundreds of Teslas over a software issue which may have resulted in a loss of steering power.
